Maldives for the Oceans Agenda
Parley Maldives is marking World Oceans Day in partnership with Ministry of Education and Maldives Association for Tourism Industry (MATI). Organisations and individuals are invited to join a series of events being held on 17th June 2023 under the tagline “Maldives For The Oceans”.
OCEAN PLEDGE
Individuals and organisations can take a pledge to avoid plastic wherever possible, intercept the plastic that they use, and redesign their life away from plastic. The pledge will be available to sign online from 16th June 6 PM to 17th June 6 PM.
BEACH CLEANUP
Organisations can cleanup a land area in their local community or an uninhabited island. We will be creating maps with locations marked by organisations for cleanups, so that individuals can reach out and join in on the efforts. These cleanups will be carried out between 7 AM – 9 AM or 4 PM – 6 PM on 17th June 2023.
UNDERWATER CLEANUP
Organisations such as resorts, dive centres and safari boats with dive and snorkelling equipment can organise underwater cleanups. These underwater cleanups are scheduled to take place at 10 AM on 17th June 2023.
OCEAN LESSON
A lesson on the oceans by remarkable speakers is going to be held at 2.30 PM on 17th June 2023. This lesson will be streamed on multiple online platforms such as YouTube and Facebook and broadcast on national TV.
